Milford Wellness Villages continues to provide community healthcare services

By Terry Rogers -As Milford Wellness Village continues to expand its services, they have a busy few weeks planned where they plan to offer additional healthcare to the community. On November 29, Milford Wellness Village, in partnership with the Sussex County Mobile Unit from the Delaware Division of Public Health Community Health Services, will offer free vaccinations and testing kits.
“There is no appointment necessary for the event which will run from 10 AM until 3 PM,” Lon Kieffer, Executive Director, said. “We will be offering flu shots, COVID-19 testing and vaccinations as well as HIV testing, water and lead testing kits. We will also offer clinical and community resource connections plus counseling and referral services.”
The Mobile Unit will be located outside the Polaris Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center at 21 West Clarke Avenue.
On Thursday, December 1 from 2 to 4 PM, PACE Your LIFE will hold an Open House and Happy Hour at the Milford Wellness Village.
“The public is invited to come learn more about PACE Your LIFE and tour their beautiful facility,” Kieffer said. “PACE Your LIFE provides comprehensive medical and social services to adults 55 and older that reside in their home but may require assistance. It is designed especially for those who are eligible for Medicare and/or Medicaid benefits. The open house will also offer light refreshments and wine. You can also enter to win a beautiful holiday gift basket.”
The upcoming events top off an eventful month at the Milford Wellness Village.
“Last month, we welcomed the Delaware Network for Excellence in Autism (DNEA),” Kieffer said. “They hosted a training session for first responders, providing them with information about autism and other developmental disabilities from a law enforcement and family perspective.”
The Milford Wellness Village, located in the former Milford Memorial Hospital, is an innovative, multi-use campus committed to delivering integrated health, education and other services not only for the City of Milford, but also for Kent and Sussex Counties.
